Collaboration is central to FirstWorks' mission. We intend to reach across genres, cultures, ages, and organizations to:

Our multi-year partners include Providence’s Department of Art, Culture & Tourism, Providence Performing Arts Center, Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design.

Collaborations

Everett Dance Theater:

Monthly "Brain storming" sessions featuring presentations by members of Everett Dance Theater and special guests from the science, higher education and performance communities will take place at the Carriage House Stage at 9 Duncan Ave. in Providence.These Brain Café sessions are free and open to the public.

Providence Singers

  • - The Junior Providence Singers performed live onstage with Sweet Honey in the Rock at the 2010 FirstWorks Festival finale performance of Indaba at The Vets.

  • - The Silk Road Project and Yo-Yo Ma: Season of the Silk Road--a six-month educational project culminating in the premiere performance of their 2009 North American tour.
  • - Community MusicWorks: a commissioned work by composer Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) to premiere during the FirstWorks Festival.
  • - Providence Singers: An American Masterpieces concert featuring contemporary American choral composers.
